József Platthy
(Karancskeszi, 17. December 1900 – 22. December 1990)
Olympic bronze medal winning show jumper, former Hussar colonel, riding instructor.
Between 1931 and 1941 he was the eight time Hungarian show jumping champion. He and his horse, Sellő, won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Berlin 1936. This is the only Olympic medal of Hungarian horse-riding. During his career he won several hundreds of national and 17 international competitions.
