Historic Documents Collection

The collection includes documents related to the past of the town, ranging from documents of the wine hill community to small forms of Modern Ages. It provides important data from the period between the two World Wars.
The earliest pieces of the collection spanning several centuries originate from the 16th century, the latest parts document the beginning of the 1990ies. The thousand-five-hundred pieces strong postcard collection from World War I. is a key part of the collection. From the point of view of history, documents related to guilds and small trade, military documents, economic documents of the Bavarian estate, as well as documents of the fire-brigade and the singers’ association are of relevance. Historic maps, donated by László Gróf, who was born in Sárvár, were also registered as historic documents. Diaries, wine hill community papers, local and national newspapers, and the photo material of the Polish refugee camp and the Yugoslavian detention camp complete the collection.
